Utah’s Todd Weiler wants to label adult entertainment as a health crisis in hopes to prevent children from viewing it, and he thinks that people who look at adult erotica have brains like a drug addict. I didn’t know being brainless was a job requirement for Utah state senators.
Dr. Carl Shubs, a psychologist in Beverly Hills, California who specializes in issues of sexuality, said calling pornography a public health crisis is ‘way off on so many levels.’
Shubs said anything can be addictive, but that many people find pornography enjoyable and use it in a healthy way. Some couples watch it to enhance their relationships, and some without partners view pornography it to fill a void, he said.
Children viewing pornography is a parenting issue, Shubs said. What people consider pornography varies.
Most electronic devices today have parental locks on them which prohibit minors from viewing something too “adult” in nature. Everything from mobile phones, video game consoles, cable TV, computers, etc. has some basic parental function to provide parents the opportunity to censor their children’s devices. If the parent doesn’t turn it on, then they probably need a friendly reminder.
I think Todd Weiler’s inane proposition may have resulted in more people searching google to oogle.
