Tragedy has struck the family of country music star, Craig Morgan. The body of his 19 year-old son has been recovered from a Kentucky lake shortly after a tubing accident that he was involved in. The story is heartbreaking and there is no parent who could survive the pain that this sudden loss will cause without divine comfort. Prayers are being requested.

From the Daily Mail:

Jerry Greer, 19, went missing Sunday afternoon after a boating accident near Mason’s Boat Dock and Marina in Humphreys County, according to WSMV.

Greer had been tubing on the Tennessee River with a friend when they collided and both fell in the water at 4pm on Sunday. Officials do not believe alcohol was a factor.

Though both boys were wearing life jackets, Jerry did not resurface, Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said. Rescue volunteers had been scouring the water since 6am on Monday.

Greer’s family was involved in the search and Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis described it as ‘an emotional community effort’.

Black River Entertainment, Morgan’s record label, issued a statement Monday night: ‘It is with deep sadness that I am confirming the passing of Jerry Greer (19), son of country music entertainer Craig Morgan and wife Karen Greer.

‘The Humphreys County Sheriff’s Department recovered his body this evening after a search that began Sunday following a boating accident on Kentucky Lake in Tennessee.’

The statement goes on to say that he was a 2016 graduate of Dickson County High School and that he planned to play football for Marshall University in the fall.

It added: ‘The family is grateful for the outpouring of support and requests prayers at this time as they privately mourn this terrible loss.

‘Jerry is survived by parents Craig and Karen Greer, sister Aly Beaird and brother-in-law Ryan Beaird, brother Kyle Greer and fiance Chelsea Rogers and brother Wyatt Greer.’

Funeral arrangements for the 19-year-old are pending, according to the site.

Greer is Morgan’s son with Karen Greer, his wife of 25 years. The couple based in Dickson, Tennessee, have three other children: daughter Alex and sons Kyle and Wyatt.

Morgan, a 17-year Army veteran known for songs including Tough and Almost Home, started his career in 2000 after singing demos for other musicians to earn money.

I cannot even imagine the pain this boy’s poor parents must be feeling right now. Sending prayers of comfort their way, with hope that through divine strength they will feel comforted to know their boy was welcomed into heaven with open arms this day.
