My View On The Obama Administration’s Attack On Religious Liberty
  6 Feb 2012     4:24 pm

I had been trying to write a post about the Obama’s administration’s attack on religious liberty regarding the Catholic Church for a few days, but every time I wrote one it ended up being too long, too detailed, and frankly, too angry. I don’t think I have been as shocked at any decision from this administration as this one, and that is saying a lot.

I’m sure you have heard about new regulations under Obama’s overhaul of our health system that compels religious organizations to include morning-after pills and other contraceptives …

The Komen Foundation Caves In To Bullies
  3 Feb 2012     12:49 pm

From The Hill:
Susan G. Komen for the Cure has reversed its decision to cut off grant money to Planned Parenthood following an intense backlash from women’s groups and the left.
The charity did not promise that Planned Parenthood will receive additional grant money, but said it would change its policies in a way that would make Planned Parenthood eligible for further funding.
This is like someone saying they will still give money to the bully who just beat the crap out of them for not giving him their lunch money.
Let me wrap …

The GOP Debate in Florida
  27 Jan 2012     11:57 am

I get a lot of heat from many of my conservative friends for not supporting Newt. But last night’s debate continues to show me that Romney is better prepared not only to face Obama in the general, but to make the case in the primaries.
Did Gingrich imagine that any of us care about how Romney has managed his well earned money? Did he also not imagine that Romney would be able to bring up Gingrich’s well paid “historian” advice to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Did Newt not think …

The Choices We Make Follow Us
  20 Jan 2012     10:19 am

If you haven’t heard, Newt Gingrich’s ex wife was interviewed last night where she said Newt had wanted an open marriage with her. We all knew Newt almost had as much of a sordid past as Bill Clinton, so this isn’t a big surprise. His past, both personal and professional is the reason I haven’t been able to support him. We love how he debates. He’s very intelligent, and he knows how to smack down the questioner if they are being their usual biased selves. As I have written before, …

Racial Code Words In The GOP Are a Lie
  19 Jan 2012     9:15 am

I think this is important to address because this is a lie that the Democrats are more than happy to spread. Usually I ignore Sheila Jackson Lee because she sees all things through the lens of race. A sad way to go through life, I think. But here she is on the floor of the house suggesting that Newt Gingrich is using “code” words when calling Pres. Obama “The food stamp President.” She imagines that he was referring to blacks. Never mind that there are more whites are on food …

Obama’s Job Council Pushes…Republican Ideas??
  17 Jan 2012     7:10 pm

Wouldn’t it be something if Pres. Obama created a jobs council to get ideas and proposals to get this economy going, and they came up with almost exactly what Republicans had been pushing for since the beginning of his presidency?
Well, that is exactly what happened.
President Obama lauded the latest report from his jobs council Tuesday, even though many of its proposals sounded like the work of Republicans.
The President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness proposed cutting the corporate tax rate, boosting domestic energy production and reducing government regulations that hinder business. …

Iran Mocks Pres. Obama and The U.S.
  17 Jan 2012     3:04 pm

Well, this is humiliating.
TEHRAN — For the American government, the crash of the RQ-170 drone in Iran was an embarrassment. For the Iranian government, it was a propaganda victory.
……………..
An Iranian firm, seeking to capitalize on the frenzy that followed the crash of the drone — and American calls to have it returned — is now producing miniaturized toy versions of the craft. Most of the toys, which come in several colors and are made of Iranian plastic, have already been snapped up by Iranian government organizations, according to the group …

Black Pastors Encourage Their Congregations to Support The Occupy Wall Street Movement
  17 Jan 2012     2:14 pm

The Occupy movement has been decidedly white. You may not have heard that, as you did about the Tea Party movement, just as you didn’t hear about the anti war movement being overwhelmingly white. That’s because the media wanted a certain narrative out there regarding the Tea Party movement. Heaven forbid they mention the many black Tea Party speakers, but so far, the Occupy Movement hasn’t even had that.
But there are some black pastors who are trying to change that.
The Rev. Harold Mayberry stood before his First African Methodist …

The Abuse of Power by Pres. Obama
  5 Jan 2012     12:48 pm

All Americans should be concerned, if not outraged, by Pres. Obama’s abuse of power. This is just one more example:
Today President Obama took his war against Congress to a new level, announcing four “recess appointments” when the Senate was not, in fact, in recess. The appointees included Richard Cordray to head the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and three new members of the National Labor Relations Board.
Republicans reacted strongly; Mitch McConnell described the appointments as an “unprecedented move” that “arrogantly circumvented the American people,” while John Boehner described today’s action …

Iowa. What It Means
  4 Jan 2012     9:13 am

Not a lot. But it does narrow the field a bit. It was quite a horse race though, with Romney, Paul, and Santorum all at 23% at one time. Which brought the best tweet of the night from James Taranto of the WSJ. He tweeted: “I’ve fantasized about a three-way, but not like this.” They reported tonight that 6 in 10 Ron Paul supporters don’t identify as Republican. So, that shows a great deal of libertarian showing it’s stuff in Iowa. It’s clear that many of the Ron Paul supporters, …

The New Newt
  18 Nov 2011     12:22 pm

Well, the tortoise analogy I’ve been using regarding Newt Gingrich seems to be coming true. One thing that hadn’t changed over these many weeks was Romney being solidly ahead in New Hampshire. He has consistently had double-digit leads over the next closest contender. No more. Gingrich is now just two points behind Romney there.
Now that Gingrich is surging, he is getting the same tough vetting that the rest of the crowd has gotten. Not the least of which is that his consulting firm collected $1.5 million in fees from the …

A Different Take On The Tortoise (Newt Gingrich) and the Hare
  8 Nov 2011     10:34 am

I’ve been saying this for a while. Newt Gingrich might be the tortoise that wins this race. He keeps creeping up in the polls. Not making a fuss, just plodding along with great conservative ideas, and a brilliant mind. The others have raced ahead, fighting each other to try and get past Mitt Romney. These candidates keep making really bad mistakes. Of course there is Mitt, who makes no mistakes. Because he is a robot. Ok, just kidding. I actually like Mitt Romney and would be fine with him …

Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich Debate Lincoln-Douglas Style Tonight In The Woodlands Texas
  5 Nov 2011     4:39 pm

Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich will participate tonight n the Woodlands for a Lincoln/Douglas style debate at 6pm central. I’ll be there covering it, so follow me on twitter @KatMcKinley for live tweeting.
It will be a 90 minute debate hosted by the Texas Patriots PAC. There is no moderator. The two candidates will discuss and respond to each other’s positions on domestic policy.
The debate is divided into three parts,  Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
It should be an interesting debate because it won’t be “gotcha questions,” since there is no moderator,  but it …

A Paul Ryan Speech That Is a Must Read
  26 Oct 2011     4:31 pm

Paul Ryan gave a speech on the politics of division at Heritage today. Read the whole thing, but here is the heart of it:
Speaking of what Obama said as a candidate:
Do you remember what he said? He said that what’s stopped us from meeting our nation’s greatest challenges is, quote, “the failure of leadership, the smallness of our politics – the ease with which we’re distracted by the petty and trivial, our chronic avoidance of tough decisions, our preference for scoring cheap political points instead of rolling up our sleeves …

Not Like This
  21 Oct 2011     8:23 am

I can’t be the only one disturbed by the video of Qaddafi’s dead bloody body being thrown around and beaten for the camera. As one Lebanese-American journalist and activist I follow on twitter tweeted, @iRevolt: “It’s one thing to feel elated at the ousting, removal, etc. of a dictator; turning death into a corpse-whoring party is another.”
I thought of the sickening hanging of Saddam Hussein, where the rope tore through his throat. Although we didn’t witness it or see it, I imagine the shooting of Osama bin Laden wasn’t pretty …

A Little Advice For Occupy Wall Street
  13 Oct 2011     10:32 am

bill hallowelltheblaze.com
Here is a letter from Brookfield Properties, that owns the park that the NY protesters are living in right now, to NYPD chief Ray Kelly. While they support the right of the protesters to protest, the park has become disgusting. In part it says:
The conditions at the park have deteriorated to unsanitary and unsafe levels.
……
Additionally, we have received hundreds of phone calls and e-mails from concerned citizens and office workers in the neighborhood. Complaints range from outrage over numerous laws being broken including, but not limited to lewdness, groping, …

David Dewhurst Thanks Pres. Obama For The Stimulus
  12 Oct 2011     1:29 pm

Really? Are you kidding me? In case you aren’t aware. David Dewhurst is running in Texas against Ted Cruz for Kay Bailey Hutchinson’s seat in the Senate. Dewhurst will now tell you that he is totally against the 2009 Obama stimulus, but YouTube says differently. Maybe it’s just me, but I think as a conservative, you would rather have someone who hasn’t thanked Obama for the stimulus debacle. I think it tells us how he would vote in the Senate for more spending, which is how we got into this …

Occupy Wall Street, Drugs, Working, and Being a 100 Percenter
  10 Oct 2011     2:59 pm

This scathing and HILARIOUS blog post about the Occupy Wallstreeter’s “We Are the 99 Percent” posts, is not only funny (hysterically so) for those of us on the right, but it really does illustrate the different mind set of each side.
Although the authors of the piece, Lori and Jenn, mock the notes written, the bigger point is serious. These kids think they are entitled to things. They think that life is unfair, and the government or somebody should do something to make it fair. They don’t seem to be the …

We Shouldn’t Ignore the Danger Of Occupy Wall Street
  7 Oct 2011     11:45 am

Occupy Wall Street is growing with protests across the country. We on the right have had fun making fun of the protesters protesting against capitalism and corporatism while using all the corporate products that we all enjoy, but I think it’s time we stopped making fun of them. Because whether you think they are silly in their demands, or radical in their speech, or that you don’t think that most even know what they are protesting, they can cause a lot of damage to our economy. The following from …

The Fast and Furious Coverup
  6 Oct 2011     10:56 am

It looks like the Obama administration scandal Fast and Furious is growing. If you aren’t familiar with what Fast and Furious is, I’ll try and catch you up. Some agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) became concerned with this program in June and came forward. Instead of making sure guns were not in the hands of the drug cartels, agents were told to deliberately allow gun traffickers in Arizona to purchase weapons for Mexican drug cartels, which would end up crossing the border into Mexico. …
